God this is such a refreshing opinion to see 18 years later when half the jobs available to me to require "co-pilot" experience.

I don't agree with the argument, but also I know syntax highlighting wasn't as good as it is now. But also I'm a javascript dev using vim... so that might *colour* my opinion.

I like syntax highlight as a way to make code look beautiful. I'm also into zines lately and I'm feeling the importance of expression in things. It adds a lot of information into what is being communicated.
